I recommend using much less than you think you'll need. You can always come back and add more. Most of the expansion is in the first 10's of seconds, but it continues to expand for several minutes. Even after using several cans of Great Stuff over the last few years, I overestimate how much to squirt in, based on the humongous blobs of cured foam I have to cut off.

Don't try cutting it until it fully cures, otherwise your knife/saw/whatever will get a bunch of sticky stuff on it. I usually foam one day, cut off the excess the next.

Fill the void or opening about 1/3 of the way, the foam will expand quickly to fill the rest by itself. As to the cureing time a few minutes...it will be set
      after several hours....rock hard! eezlock

I didn't get a chance yesterday to try it out, but I bought a red and blue can of "Great Stuff". Today is the day. I'll try a little spot with each.

Thanks for all the advice given. This is a perfect example of how the experiences of doing something can help someone else. It's the individual contributions and how they are stated that gives flavor to an explanation. I like that.

That was pretty cool of cabman to take a minute to complement the forum. Very cool of you, sir! The world at large is so negative that we really appreciate a pat on the back.
