Need advice on a "DDR" dance pad

Hi everyone - Need some advice on a DDR dance pad for a Christmas gift. I've heard stories about the pads disintegrating in short order. It's not an item we're up to spending $100 on for a hard pad (unless we have to ), but I don't want to throw $20-$40 away either . Anyone have a recommendation for a good value in one of these?

The gamestop branded one we've got has survived my kids for a couple years now. It's in better shape than the konami one that came with the game.

My daughters have two, one that came with the DDR and one that I bought seperately that is I thought, would have been alot better than the one that came with the game. The second one isn't a hard pad but but it's padded (1 inch thick pad) I think I spent about $75 on it... Seems they like the cheap one that came with the game better!
