Great Idea. I have always had a problem putting the shotgun where I could get to it, doesn't fit under the pillow.

Congratulations on the new son in law! How was the shotgun wedding?

I had to laugh at the "many couples are getting one for each side of the bed". Brings a whole new perspective of not taking arguments to bed and mutally assured distruction to a new meaning.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Better yet, a leg mount so it's with you at all times even if you get up to go potty. Then on the other side you holster a 357, and on your back you have a bow and arrow set up, couple of 14" bowie knives stuck in your underwear waistband, and that should about do it.

Uhmm... couldn't you just put your shotgun on the floor under the bed?

You'd have to be careful while pulling up your drawers in your 'half-awake' state! Your pinky toe is in severe jeopardy!

What, no grenades?! LOL! BTW, what the heck are you doing web- surfing at 5:30 AM? Insomnia or just getting ready for work?

The Shorty shotgun looks like a wrist buster and a BATFE invitation for a house call. I also though that the OSW designation required a $200 license fee. Perhaps that's included in the price since they are charging a $15 transfer fee. I'd sure read up before I'd sign up for that one. I don't trust heresay when it comes to the potential for prosecution. Sorry, that got OT - apologies all around!

Short barrel rifle or shotgun require a $200 transfer stamp. This is not a Short barrel shotgun, so the lesser transfer fee. This one is on my wish list for next year.

Help me out here, George. I'm just thick I guess. I believe that this *is* a shotgun. Do you mean that shotguns don't have the same designation? I thought that they did.
                    TIA

Certain firearms fall under the designation of AOW (any other weapon), A pen gun or cane gun are examples of AOWs. The BATF has decided certain shotguns are AOWs and others are SBS (short barrel shotguns), I am not 100% sure, but I believe it has to do with whether they left the factor with a stock on them or a pistol grip.

I know that the Ithaca Stakeout is classified as a SBS as it was made with a stock.

Thanks, Rounder. That makes sense. For instance, if you use an AMD-65 model of the AK-47 and use a pistol grip in the build it is legal even though the barrel would otherwise require a 4" extension to remain legal. It would be illegal to put a shoulder stock or a folding stock on it because it was originally a pistol and the conversion pushed it into the short barreled weapon category. I should have been thinking about that more completely - it's been a while since I dealt with the issue. Thanks again!
