    Well...There Goes The Tool Budget

Among other things. One of our German Shepherds, Shadow, the great hunter that can catch low flying birds and has killed iguanas, squirrels, and 'possums in our back yard did it again. Two days ago fractured her ankle on one of her "chases". Off to the Vet I went...again.

Here's a short synopsis of her "tool budget" history:

In the last couple of years:

TPLO surgery to her hind leg which reconfigures a torn tibia ligament - $3200.00

Removal of a cancerous tumor from a front leg (3 times @ $500-$600 each).

Fractured bone in ankle - $552

We've never had this kind of expense with any of our animals, and we have 2 German Shepherds and 3 cats. But I've got to tell ya-all that I'd do it all over again and the tools can wait.

Send Shadow my wishes for a speedy recovery. It might be expensive, but it's worth it.

The heck with the tool budget - our furry family members come first! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

Those kind of pet expenses are hard on the ole' budget. Ditto about taking care of our four legged family members. I hope for a fast and full recovery.

We hope everything works out well. I thought we had it rough with our German Shephard, Layla. There was a question whether or not she had heart problems. Three visits to Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine (not inexpensive), and she was finally given the green light for all activities. Although they did find something irregular in her heart, it appears it's not something to be concerned about. They give us their all, and we should do the same when it's needed.

I can't claim to be a Hard-A$$ by any means. My last Siberian had hip displacia and opted for the surgery at 7 months. He gave us 15 years of faithful companionship.

But I have a buddy that has to be the King of Animal Chumps.

One of 3 cats born in his bike shop devolped heart problems. Over a grand for the surgery and she had to be moved from the shop to the house for the cleaner conditions and medications the rest of her life.

Latest kitten had a sinus infection that wouldn't clear up. Vet thought it might be bone cancer. Only kitten I know that has it's own oncologist!

Ditto. We spent almost $300 on a gerbil with an infected nose. What can I say?

Besides the gratitude you owe the dog for its loyalty and affection, you have ANOTHER reason to be grateful to her!

Your gonna have to figure out how to do something, that you would have got another tool for, thereby increasing your skill level and creativeness, that when you get the tool, you will be that much better with.

With my hours, I can't see me getting a dog again. (not fair to them) But I do still miss mine.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
