MPEG to MPEG4 or WMV Converter

    Folks,

Any of you know of a free converter that has no spyware? I have a bunch of videos that I recently took with our Sony camcorder and I'd like to see if I can convert so that I can post the videos online. I've tried posting some videos to share with friends and families but its too big and youtube.com has cap on what video file size can be uploaded. Greatly appreciate any info.

    Thank you!
    Chris

Hmm.... I thought Windows Media Center did this, but maybe not.

Windows Movie Maker (which, at minimum, comes with XP) saves to WMV.

        Try SUPER from
        http://www.erightsoft.com/home.html

It's a complicated program to use, and as a test to see if you are up to it they make it very complicated to download. The theory being, if you can figure out hot to get it then your clever enough to figure out how to use it. It's free and no spy ware.

Took me many tries over two days for the light to blink on and I was able to download it. Still working on just how to use it.

The site also has a nifty, suck the video off of u-Tube and save it to your hard drive, on line utility.

Super comes highly rated by John Devork (sp?)

        have fun, bill

I should add.. don't be waylayed by the Google adverts in the pages for other products, all of which are not free.

My question is are they aleady in a Mpeg format or do you need to a video capture of it?

If they are in a Mpeg format already I use Replay Converter that is not free but it's simple and easy to use and works flawlessly. I personally use it to convert captured DVD's to my Ipod so I can watch movies when I travel.

Here is a link to the website http://www.applian.com/replay-converter/index.php

If need to capture the video I also recommend using Movie maker that comes with MS XP and can be save in wmv,avi etc. formats.

              Try one of these

I have not done any converting of video yet but have found these two sites a great place to find software.

www.cnet.com under downloads then video software
              or
              www.tucows.com under software

There are various choices depending on your need or system OS. Usually one of the "popular" titles get the jobs done.

              Hope this helps.
