    I hate project changes!

So the kitchen bench kneewall is supposed to have a post at the end. SWMBO decided she would like it better if the post ran from the top of the wall to the ceiling instead. Of course this is AFTER I didn't put anything nice at the end of the wall - the post was supposed to do that - and AFTER I already cut the flooring out for the post. So now I gotta replace the cut laminate tomorrow. At least I was smart enough not to put the final trim in - was going to wait to cut to length after the post was installed.

Explain to her the problem making the end of the wall look right. Make sure she understands that a patch piece in the laminate will both show and will be likely to curl or come loose.

Then shut up and do it her way! There are 2 approaches to arguing with a woman...Neither of which works.

      Oh yes, Pappy!

I know of at least 6 others that also don't work.

What I can't work out is why (after 38 years), I still try

Rod, after 42 years, I quit trying. Now I just say "yes dear" and do it her way on projects she wants.
Worst part is that it turns out ok doing it her way!!! ****

BTDT! The correct answer is "yes Dear"...

Oh, if only "Yes, Dear" would work for me. What LOML wants is a long dialog, discussing many options, good interaction, enthusiastic (but not overbearing) participation on my part, before I do what she wants.

How about "yes dear, that's a great idea! ...why didn't I think of that? "

I guess it all depends on your plans for later on....think bigger picture.

Well she changed her mind again this morning. She said the post would look ok where I wanted to put it if the side of the bench where the seating area is were lower. I know after I had the sides built she decided she wanted them lower but I more or less said it was too late. This time I didn't argue or try to follow her logic. I just decided cutting down the bench was easier than trying to repair the floor.

A bit of advice. When reasoning (if possible) with a woman, first figure out the outcome you want, then engineer the discussion so that she thinks it's her idea.

Jeff Foxworthy said that the only reason a woman asks our opinion is so that she can hear her answer in a mans voice.
