    request of BT3 members

Not sure if this is right place to post but here goes.
I am very aware of privacy issues of the internet but I think it would be of great help here if more members would add their location to forum profile. It could even just be a general location like Southern Calif. This would mean a lot to readers especially in the Bargain Alerts but I think also useful in other forums. A shop in New Mexico is got to be different from a shop in North Dakota. I know in most longer post the author makes a mention to relevant locations but if that location is automatically in your name header it could eliminate questions if the author forgets.

Because of things said in other posts, I've wondered at times where the author was from. If people don't want to indicate where they live, if you stick around long enough, eventually you'll get to know where a lot of members are from.

i agree. sometimes, when you read a post, you look up to see where he/she is talking about and you do know. i too have wondered why not just fill it out, at least general location.

I also thought it was a good idea to have your name as your ID (some user names here are becoming questionable). But, I found at another web site if someone has your name & location they can easily get your phone #. That's why I have removed my location on most forums I visited.

Agreed, would have been helpful a couple times in the past.

            You Guys are paranoid!

I have been on this Forum site for several YEARS, have always had my location posted, have a listed phone number and have, as yet, NOT recieved ANY phone calls from someone that has used BT3CENTRAL information to contact me, uninvited!

            Get a life!

If you Do get such a call (rare), and you don't want to talk to the person, just HANG UP THE PHONE! How hard can that be???
Stop thinking why you can't and Start thinking how you CAN!

I have always used my real name online and never cared if people know where I live, but then I also am into the shooting sports.

Now I can understand a woman being worried about it and I respect their decission to maintain their privacy. It is nice to see where people are from but if they choose to not post it that IMHO is no big deal.

Harassment is not limited to women only, and it is no longer legal (darn it) to shoot people for being a pain in your ass.

Never had anyone that wanted to harass me face to face.
As far as doing it online, that I know how to handle. Had someone doing it to a member of a board I run, contacted their IP and their Internet Account was terminated with a notice that their information had been turned over to the police. Never had a problem with them again.

My location is in my profile only on certain forums. This is one of the few where I do it.
