    Canadian$ vs US$

    Todays exchange: 1 Canadian dollar = 1.070435 U.S. dollars

I did some comparisons on HD.com and HD.ca. Just one example shows the same Rigid portable TS at $449 US( with free shipping) compared to $599 Cn( and will ship within 24 hrs...but is it free?).

Gee, I wish we had your tool prices.

It's like they haven't re-adjusted the prices to account for the slide in the dollar. I remember price differences like that when the exchange rate was $0.85 Canadian = $1.00 U.S.

4 or 5 years ago, the exchange rate was favorable enough, that I drove to Canada and bought a $700 GI contractor saw for $525. Even with gas and tolls, I saved ~ $130. For some reason the US customs guys waved the duty fees...guess they were more concerned with catching terrorists.

It's getting so that the Canadians want to come here to shop!

I compared US and Canadian dealer prices on the identical new loaded heavy duty Ford truck a few weeks ago. The difference was $14,000 in their respective currencies. That's BEFORE adjusting for the higher value of the Loonie.

I think it must be like gas prices. Oil goes up $1 a barrel and gas prices increase $.03 the next day. Oil goes down $5 a barrel and gas prices go down $.01 the next month. Capitalism, ain't it great.

I was on Lee Valley site loading up the cart. Noted that currency was Canadian and switched to US Dollar. There was a very nice price decrease. I guess they have not updated their pricing either.
