refrigerator motor vs table saw motor

What is the difference between a fridge motor and a table saw motor?

Can you use a fridge motor to replace a table saw motor?

How do you disconect a fridge motor without a freon recovery unit?

I don't think a refrigerator motor has any use other than what it was intended for.

a fridge doesn't really have a motor. it has a sealed (unopenable) compressor that generally uses a solenoid with a diaphram as the pumping mechanism.

unless you have a fridge that uses a 2hp motor?

In addition to the compressor, some refrigerators have an air circulation fan, but that tiny motor isn't going to turn a saw blade.

He is trying to find a new way to open his beer cans, after pulling them out of the fridge.

The differences in loads in those two devices is huge, and the motors are designed accordingly. You might get a small compressor motor to spin the arbor but I doubt it would spin strongly under load for very long.

A motor off a treadmill will work on a tablesaw. The power is usually there. You have to watch the motor speed though.

                    Fridge motor

Ok, Guys, thanks for the advise. I think is cheaper to buy a bag of ice to keep my drinks cold. The old fridge with motor and all will go to the fridge cemetery.

Seriously, the information received is appreciated. For a novice, I though an electrical motor is an electrical motor.
