Techshop opening in 10 cities. If you have limited shop capacity like me, this might be just the ticket. Interesting.

Hmm, CA, CA, CA, CA, and oh yes, CA.
Guess most of the rest of the country doesn't count.

I wonder how much lawyerspeak and injury waivers they had to work into their contract? And whether they have enough insurance, despite the waivers...

They're opening one near me, so I'm thinking I'll check it out, just for grins...

Still not local to me, but it is good to see that they are expanding. This concept seems to be catching on slowly.

The Woodcraft in Rockville, MD (actually called The Woodworker's Club) has a similar deal. Not convenient for me...

Reminds me of the woodshop we used to have on military bases.

Sounds like a great idea, but I would wonder about the liability issues (usual bugbear in today's world)...

I have recommended to people for many years to check out their local tech. college, where you may be able to take a course and use their equipment. I did that for a few years til I got my shop configured.

Guy at work joined, enjoys it a lot. He went ahead and purchased the one year pass for $1100.

Looks like Sacramento is getting one. Will have to check in out. Really can't afford it, but glad some one is doing something. Most of the Schools and Community Colleges around here don't have Woodwork classes anymore. They have classes for Carpentry and the Building Trades but not the Wookworking classes as before.

It is expensive for a year, but if you just need an expensive tool or two for a day or so, $30 a day is pretty good.

Thanks for the tip - will have to check it out when they come here.

Same idea came to me awhile back. Besides liability issues, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to deal with a bunch of strangers using all "my" shiny new tools in "my" new huge shop.
