    Hospital Food

I just got of the hospital after 4 days from a minor correction to my last surgery.
Every thing went well and I am up and fine.

The University of Washington has a new method of feeding the patients. You are given a menu when admitted and when you want to eat you call and place your order which is then delivered to your room in about 45 min. The menu covers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide selection of great sounding food.
The meals I had were fantastic, a long way from the crap you usually get in a hospital. I stuck with deli sandwiches for lunch and there was no shortage of meat on them. Last night I had the grilled salmon with red potatoes, broccoli and a dinner roll, as good as you could find anywhere.

    Dick,

I'm glad to hear that you are up and around.

Are the meals paid for by Medicare? And, will they let you bring a date?

Glad all went well, Dick. Nice to see that at least one hospital is doing something about the food service. Heck, with what hospitals cost these days, you'd think Emeril would show up in person and cook for you in your room...

        Glad you're okay.

Hospitals are intensely competitive. It doesn't surprise me that one (or more) have figured out that offering a four-star food service is a smart way to attract customers.

Glad you're doing well. It's a drag when you think everything is just fine, then find out you have to go in for corrections.

I saw something about hospital food on the news, a few days ago. I guess several hospitals are drastically changing the quality of food they serve to patients. It won't be long, and that will be the norm.

I'm glad that you are doing better also. Glad to hear that you had good food too! That seems unusual from what I have seen.

A friend of mine went to check on her father in an assisted living place. He was getting hamburger one day and well cooked roast beef the next. The daughter went to the workers that filled the food orders and asked why they were giving him beef when he had specific orders from the doctor for no red meat and it was listed as such on his diet.

The woman who fixed his meals said, that ain't red meat, its brown! Ham is red meat and raw meat is red, but cooked beef is brown!

It doesn't sound like her father was speaking up, either.
