I got an airless paint sprayer a while back at a garage sale and finally get to use it. If I primer in the morning then paint in afternoon or the next day is it ok to leave the paint in the sprayer? Or will I need to thoroughly clean it. Of course I'll flush out the primer before I use the paint.

For what its worth; I got an airless sprayer last summer. Good friend of mine is a painter and told me its OK to leave the unit with paint in it as long as: paint container is covered so air can't get to paint (he suggested pouring a thin layer of water on surface {if its latex}) leave the hose and spray head charged (don't relieve pressure) and don't leave it for more than two or three days in that condition. I painted my house and outbuildings last summer and took his advise. No problems!RuffSawn

What unit did you buy? The reason I ask is that my house is T1-11 sided and I'm getting too long in the tooth to brush all of that. I usually use Cabot's oil based semi-trasparent so it has a lot of solids.Blessings,

Not sure of the model but it's a Spraytech brand. I saw a retiring contractor was selling his tools and had a garage sale and this was one of the items. Didn't really need one but since it was only $50 and I seem to be a tool addict I decided to get it. It works really great for bigger projects. But cleaning up is kind of a pain. I've only used it once to paint the outside of a friend's house. 2nd time will be this weekend for a bedroom.
Also if you do use it outside make sure it's not too windy or you'll end up painting all your neighbors' cars as well.
Oh, maybe this is just me and my poor technique but I find it's alot less efficient than rollers. I seem to be able to get more coverage per gallon paint with rollers. But the time saved more than makes up for it.Last edited by p8ntblr; 10-25-2007, 07:17 PM.-PaulComment
