    Amazon Antics,

Okay, i guess i just need to vent some, plus i cant believe amazons return options.

Anyway, i ordered my PM2000 last month, and due to EGL shipping misplacing a box, and the delivery company (diamond freight) not wanting to deliver until they had all the boxes, i waited two extra weeks.

Diamond finally notified me that they had both boxes, and would deliver it. So i took delivery and guess what, no second box, which is the rails. I asked the driver and he said he only had one pallet and he was sure he didn't have a second.

So i called Diamond, who called EGL, who called Amazon, and then they reversed the call order back to Diamond, who said I needed to call Amazon, as I only bought a table saw and not rails.

Anyway, I call Amazon, who says that since it was a large item, they would need a specialist to look into in and it would take a few days. Yesterday I got an email from "Derrick" who said they didn't stock replacement parts and if a part was missing from the package, i needed to call Powermatic.

So I called powermatic, who informed ,me that since it was a missing box, and not a part, i needed to call amazon, as they had to handle it since they ordered it. She gave me the same 800 that i always call.

So i called amazon, and explained it all again to a nice woman on the phone, who said that she would ship me a new saw, and i could send the new one back. I told her that all i needed was the rails and the thing weights 700lbs, so can they just send me the rails. She says no problem, we don't mind the return shipping, we will send you a label, just tape it to the box and drop the box off at the post office. I tell her again, that it weighs 700lbs and if i put it out by the mail box the post man will go postal. She fills out another form, and tells me in 2 days some one will call and get me the rails.

Guess what, a few minutes ago, i get the same email stating that they don't have any parts, and I should call Powermatic, and they will send them. This time it was from "Dierdre". I guess i am working through the names that start with "D"

So I called again, and get another nice women, who has pages of notes on this order, and says the only way to get the fence rails is to send a whole new saw. So I said fine, send me the saw, but how do i get the other one back. She said that was a good question, and when she was finished processing the paperwork, she would include that in an email.

I called Powmatic again to explain what was going to happen, and I guess that solution works for them as well, as Amazon will have to fill a claim with the shipper, so they are ultimately buying two of them. The funny part is that the saw was shipped from Powermatic, and not amazon, so they were the ones too actually have seen both boxes leave the factory.

So all i can tell you about my Powermatic is that it does roll super smooth on the built in castors, and that most Amazon reps have no clue as to what a table saw is. Maybe in another 3 weeks I'll actually get to try it out

You should have refused it when it didn't have the second box. Refusing screwed up deliveries is always easier in the long run.

I sure hope you saved a bundle by purchasing it from Amazon and not locally cause this screw up sure has cost you a bunch in wasted time and loss of use of your new saw. For your sake I hope this situation gets straightened out in a hurry.

I guess Amazon has more money than they know what to do with. They want you to send the saw back?? For just the rails?

all the way to the curb for pickup.

Maybe you will get real lucky, and they will tell you just to keep the first one as well.

You should tell them at Amazon that you had to hire 2 guys to get it out of your basement. No, never mind. Don't do that. It would not be truthful (or would it?).

My prediction: the day after the freight company hauls the rail-less saw away, a UPS box will arrive with its rails.

I think there's a strong possibility that they went to the people whose treasure hunting kit was delivered without a trowel, because it was tossed into my fence face carton. (See "Strange UHMW buying experience" in tool forum.)

All that is precisely why I, despite having bought tons of stuff from amazon.com over the years -- rarely with a problem, and never with an unsatisfactory solution, in the final analysis -- decided I'd be more comfortable ordering my PM2000 from Woodcraft.

It may be some comfort to read that when you finally do have the saw fully assembled and running, you will immediately realize that whatever heartburn you may have experienced was well worth it.

Well i got the email form Amazon saying they were shipping another complete saw for no charge (unless I dont return it) and that the tool department would be contacting me to arrange pickup of the other at the same time as delivery. Bet that doesnt work.

Being that I already uncrated the original, and have removed the packing material, I think i will sign for the delivery, just take the rails, remove the shipping info from the new saw crate, and have them return the new one.

I hope it doesnt mess up my serial number/warranty with powermatic.

I have always liked amazon, and found many good/great deals, and their normal prices arent bad either. I just wish that when you called customer service, you could actually get someone to understand what needs to happen, and i would also like to get the same person twice!

I did get a great deal on this saw, I caught it on an amazon "markdown" to 1950.00 from the normal 2300.00, plus free shipping, a 225.00 savings compared to wood craft lift gate service. So basically 575.00 cheaper than i could have got it from wood craft.

And to be honest, i have worked a lot harder/wasted more time to get some of the deals I have gotten, for a lot less savings. Like the recent craftsman drill press deal. 2 hours of waiting for an email, and two trips to the store to buy in person, another 3 days waiting for cancellation of the on line order, and verify that they truly didnt charge me., basically 5 hours total, for only 350.00.

As mentioned, I imagine now that this is in the process, that the original rails will be found and delivered by the delivery company. Probably the same day the bring out the replacement saw.

Oh well, guess i will check with powermatic next to see if they care which saw i keep.

Maybe I will call amazon and ask if they want to sell me the saw without rails for 500.00, I'll tell it will be a deal considering what the charge for recrating and return shipping will be!

                    Jesse
