    Missing the urinal

Pardon my rant, but it really annoys me that (seems like more often than not) I have to stand in -- or actively try to avoid standing in -- a puddle in the bathroom. And it doesn't seem to matter which bathroom, either.

Is there some medical reason this always seems to happen, or should I just consider myself an extraordinarily good aim?

Maybe people should have to pass a test and get a license to use a public restroom.

Thanks for listening. I feel better now.

Are you seriously suggesting you don't have the license? Where do you live - doesn't your community / county do any sort of background check?

I failed the test for my license a couple of times, till the instructor took the matter in her own hands and taught me how...

Jeez - dunno what this world's coming to - guys don't even have the proper training / credentials, and complain about others .

The floor should be electrified. If you miss the urinal, you get an unplesant shock where you won't soon forget.

I passed target practice as a kid with flying yellow colors. No scope, no target sights. Once I got the hang of it, it was like the first "hands free device" back in those days. I can't complain though, I did a lot better than my sister. She couldn't write anything legible in the snow.

I was going to respond by blaming my lack of aim on my newly acquired "narrow stance" but i thought that might be objectionable material

Try stopping at the Valley Forge exit of the PA turnpike! Make sure you wear your waders!

Don't you just feel nasty when you have to deal with this?

There is apparently a solution, but we need a volunteer to place them.

This seems to be the thinking of most things these days, public restrooms, stores and other things. I work in a store that serves food and things and I am usually cleaning up a lot when people leave sometimes.

**warning, reading this may be more info then you really wanted**

I have been in charge of such exciting issues as urinals and bathroom cleanliness and I may have an answer for you guys:
*This only applies to sober restroom users, anything happens in bars*
If the urinal water flow is set too high it will splash out a little bit of water each time it flushes. Some guys flush before and after use so then you get double the small splash. combine that with 20-50 shooters an hour dripping a little each time and you end up with a puddle. so it's not that their aim is bad, it's a combo of the maint. crew not adjusting the urinal correctly, and the shooter dripping on the floor when shaking it off.

We had the puddling problem at work and, as with most people, mgmt. decided that the men's room users were pigs and they need to be informed not to "miss". the problem was that the walls were not wet and the puddle was confined to a relatively small area. If someone was "missing" a larger area would be wet. a properly adjusted urinal doesn't make much noise and doesn't flow much water. the loud "woosh" you hear in most public restrooms is the valve incorrectly adjusted.

                        Three notes on this theme.

One urinal upkeep company places (sticks) a fake wad of gum in the urinal just a tad off of center where the aim should be. There finding is that most people will instinctively aim at it.

One of the strangest things that I have seen in Japan is urinals made in the shape of animal heads in which a person urinates into their mouth! It was in the newspaper a couple of years ago and was in elementary schools; I have only seen these once, but it wasn't at a school.

For anyone who has spent more that a couple of weeks in Japan will know this next experience: It is quite common for a woman, usually mid-50s and older, to be in a men's rest room and cleaning the floors while men are using the urinal. I was in Nagoya's main train station (Shinkansen/bullet train) yesterday and there was a woman that stood back and went up and mopped the floor after each customer left. Usually they do this every 30 minutes or so, not after each customer.

This is a local world famous oddity
                          http://www.urinal.net/madonna/

if all urinals were like this waterfall you wouldn't worry about the puddle on the floor! it's not uncommon for women to walk in while you are using it too look around.

I saw a guy post a sign in the men's room. It said "We aim to please. You aim too please".
