Well, officially a chess "expert" anyway. This is not the type of think I'd expect a homeless person in the nation's capital to say: "The mathematical equation has always been fascinating to me, then when you add the camaraderie, the ambiance, the open air, it's almost irresistible."

...and "The pursuit of the ego versus the pursuit of the spirit are in conflict sometimes. I enjoy alcohol a little too much."

Interesting... Kinda makes me want to go to Dupont Circle and play (more like lose) a game or two.

there are some guys in the circle that can beat you without blinking......... fun to watch during lunch.

I lived and worked withing walking distance, Lakota even used to wade in Dupont Fountain.

His fate and his goals seem predetermined. His game is better when sober, but gaining higher credibility will enable him to be a better boozer. Slightly "Catch 22".

He is probably very happy with his station in life. Others judge him on his lifestyle. I had a woodworker friend that his most artistic work was done when he was bombed or stoned, sometimes both.
