How About An "I'm OK" Thread

Every once in a while there's a post that asks if someone is OK due to their not posting. A shout out about Anna makes me think we should have a continuous thread that members can "check in", maybe weekly or on a predetermined day of the week. The section on the front page (Currently Active Members) sometimes carries me active, even after I've clicked to another site. Maybe my cookie keeps me there for a while.

But, just checking that section wouldn't always give an entire story. An active thread would give posters a chance to say something about their absence, or weekly difficulties keeping them from posting. Or, maybe they just don't have a subject to post. I've thought about how anyone would know if I went to the woodshop in the sky?

A weekly thread dedicated to just checking in something like "Hi, this is_________and I was on a boat out in the middle of a huge lake for over a week fishing and drinking, and didn't have a PC with me". This idea may sound a little far fetched, but it would keep some of our wondering down. It would also give the opportunity to see what the active members have been up to.

I made a deal with my wife that if I do go to the woodshop in the sky, to go on the forums and make the announcement. Hopefully there won't be any parties. Well, maybe a few.

Don't worry, C-Man... When one of us goes, the others invariably show up at midnight, and divvy up the tools...

When the time comes, you'll be dealing with my wife, who knows how to use all the tools, and knows what they're worth. She doesn't take guff from anybody. Anyway, she reads these threads, and this "check in" type thread was partly her idea. Of course there's always the possibility that someone wants to "disappear" for a while.

Been there, done that, did not get a tee shirt.

BTW, when I "go", you all can have a free-for-all with my tools, you just have to get to NY and past my 20 yr old daughter, she's the only person that I'm afraid of!!

Good point, but like he said he will probably be here helping me unload a 600lb piece of equipment when I die.
