Gas Water Heater won't turn on !?!

Good to hear that it is fixed. I had my water heater go down about 5 years ago and it is a sinking feeling when you know that you won't have hot water until you figure it out.
I'm glad you followed Rslaugh's instructions/link because the part I thought was the thermocouple was actually the thermoswitch.

you are right. i did notice that when i was reading the online manual link. but just followed and looked where it said thermocouple.

not having hot water wasnt an issue here in az until three days ago. last few nights have finally been somewhat cool and when i get up at 5am, its has been a bit chilly. so for the first time, i turned the water to hot and all i got was cold water. the water that come out during the summer time is warm, not cold. during those hot days, at times i miss the freezing cold water that use to come out of taps back in canada.
