    If You Had To...

    1. If you had to order your last meal, what would it be?

    2. If you had to drive the same vehicle the rest of your life, what would it be?

    3. If you had to live in a certain place the rest of your life, where would it be?

    4. If you had to pick a profession (job) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

    5. If you had to pick one tablesaw and fence, what would it be?

    6. And this one's for bonus points: If you could pick a celebrity as a spouse, who would it be?

        I'm game:

        1. Biscuits & Gravy

        2. I'd like to not need a car, but that's not likely, so I'll take a mid 70's Ford HiBoy 4x4.

        3. I just moved to Indiana and I'm pretty happy here, but......central Washington during the summer and southern Arizona during the winter. Wait, can only pick one place........I'll take central Washington (maybe Wenatchee), better supply of lumber!

        4. I'd love to get paid to set-up "money is no object" work shops for wealthy retirees.

        5. Laguna with the sliding table.

        6. Amy Wynn (the carpenter from While You Were Out). Girl-next-door cute and handles tools.

          1. If it was my last meal, I doubt very much I would care. Eating to me is more of a neccasity then enjoyment. (can tell by the fact I eat pretty much the same thing for 4.5 days a week for about the last 20 years)
          2. If it didn't have to be one vehicle that I have owned, I would modify one that I own. A Ford Ranger, extended cab, with the 2.3 and 5 speed manual (not extended cab currently), with a bed extension (bars that goe across the back). Safer then leaving stuff in my toolbox (broke into this year)
          3. When I bought my first current house, I planned on dying in it. If I had the money and could afford to do the modifications, there is one I would buy, that was a friends. With the layout and capability to mod it, It could have 7 garage doors, and one heck of a shop, and still be good sized (wierd layout)
4 It will probably be what I am doing now (even though it's about as enjoyable as beating a dead fish). Work is work, everything I've enjoyed, people have put me to work doing, and it became work.
5 It wouldn't, it would be my guided circular saw system. More portable, and has adapted itself to my needs well.
          6. Easy, Linda Hamilton. Reminds me of the woman I proposed to.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

            5. Likely a Laguna with a slider. Well, something as massive as high-end as possible.

            6. No celebs for me, please - they suck at being spouses. I'll stick with my wife.

Hmmm, you are forcing us to face our mortality ...

But here goes, with the presumption that you meant somebody else is gonna pay for some of this :

                1. Rice and beans.

                2. Any nice mini-van where all the seats fold right into the floor. The seat would be high enough to keep my back pain free, the cargo space good enough for lumber/plywood/large tools, the mileage better than SUVs, and comfy enough for family and even visitors.

                3. Have moved too much for multiple lifetimes; now I only wish I could be in drivable distance to my parents, siblings and closest circle of friends.
Of all the rest, this might be the only 'unattainable pipe dream' .

                4. Work for a non-profit org, preferrably that helped underprivileged children.
Seriously holding onto this as 'must do before i die'.

                5. As the owner of a much reviled poor cousin of the BT3, have very little idea of the 'ultimate' TS. Of course, that does not preclude my greed for one , so shall wait for the thread to grow and make a decision based on what most people dream about .

                6. Jill Taylor. Yup, not the actress, but the character from Tool Time . I can only dream about the fortitude shown by this mythical spouse who puts up with so much abuse to her home and property (and person) from her husband's diy-adventurism. Other than that, am very happy with my own LOML - she only blows up when I 'forget' to clear out my drills / clamps for weeks after the job in the bedroom is done .

Finally, CM : how about your own responses?
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
                - Aristotle

                    1. If you had to order your last meal, what would it be?

Normally I would say filet mignon but on second thought I'd say the daily special at Les Crayeres (http://www.relaischateaux.com/crayeres)--ate there once a few years ago, a once-in-a-lifetime meal (for me, anyway), cost $125, took 4 hours to complete.

                    2. If you had to drive the same vehicle the rest of your life, what would it be?

I guess a BMW M3. Of course I couldn't haul wood or a boat or anything with it, but if I could afford an M3 I could pay someone else to haul my stuff for me.

                    3. If you had to live in a certain place the rest of your life, where would it be?

Tough call. I'm tempted to say where I am right now. In this country Boulder or someplace else scenic. For lifestyle considerations, though, it's hard to beat the French. How about here:

                    4. If you had to pick a profession (job) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A writer. A successful one. LIke Steven King, only more complicated.

                    5. If you had to pick one tablesaw and fence, what would it be?

                    A Unisaw with a Biesemeyer.

                    6. And this one's for bonus points: If you could pick a celebrity as a spouse, who would it be?

She's a little older than I am, but Emmylou Harris--she could sing me to sleep any night.

                              1. If you had to order your last meal, what would it be?

Nigiri and maki with lots of salmon. Oh, and tiramisu for dessert.

                              2. If you had to drive the same vehicle the rest of your life, what would it be?

                              Chariot of fire.

                              3. If you had to live in a certain place the rest of your life, where would it be?

San Simeon. And when the state turns it over to me, you're all invited to a bt3central party, Hearst Castle style.

                              4. If you had to pick a profession (job) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

                              Writer/speaker/teacher. That's a job, right?

                              5. If you had to pick one tablesaw and fence, what would it be?

SawStop with the 7.5HP motor ... and a bunch of extra blades and cartridges, which I hope never to use.

                              6. And this one's for bonus points: If you could pick a celebrity as a spouse, who would it be?

My policy is: my wife or nobody.
Don't just say no to kickback.
