    Need bushings made

I have an old Sears cement mixer and the bronze bushings on the drive shaft are not available, that I can find.

The bushings are 3/4" ID x 1 1/2" OD x 3/4" long. I need to poor 2 concrete handicap ramps for the 'Boss' and need them ASAP.

Anyone that can help me out on this?

Amazon's Industrial & Scientific supply category shows 649 bronze bushings. You might want to see if they have something that's a close enough fit.

Have you checked at a local bearing supply store? Or one that caters to agriculture equipment?

If you need them yesterday, I can't help. Miller Bearings is where I get my router bearings and any bushings I need. They have a great supply.

            bushings

Pappy, might want to try a local electric motor repair shop, they should have or can get any size of the bronze oil type bushing that fit into some electric
motors. If not, may want to try W.W.Grainger. eezlock

I assume you are refering to the bearing under the tub and not in the motor.. In a pinch and for limited use well greased oak, hard maple or a chunk of composite decking may work just fine.

You could use some of that lead based packing that plumbers use to seal cast iron drain pipes. Can't remember the correct name.

The bearings are on the shaft the has the pulley on one end and the tub drive gear on the other.

Tried 3 local bearing shops with no luck. no bushings at McMaster-Carr, but the tube stock might work if I can't come up with anything better.

I'll try to call Miller tomorrow. Didn't see any specs on the site. Didn't think of Grainger or Amazon.

                      bushings?

Pappy, hate to see that Grainger doesn't have anything in stock. Try a metal
pipe and tube dist. in your area, one that has brass and bronze tube stock
they may have what you need. That short of pieces may well be some cut offs laying around their horizontal bandsaw, it doesn't hurt to ask.....

A few years back I needed some replacement bushings for my Weiser lock boring jig....went to a local bearing dist. guess what? he gave the bushings to me free of charge they were such and insignificant part that he just gave them to me...imagine that! Sure helped take the slack out of a 30 year old
jig that would cost $300.00 or to replace. eezlock

If you can't find any Pappy, get some brass stock. I have a metal lathe that can handle that easily and would be happy to do them.

If you can't find a short piece of brass or bronze that size, Delrin plastic would work just as well IMO. I use it instead when I need larger bushings. It's pretty durable material and has great slip factor.
If you can't find the stuff you need and Jim doesn't have any of this, I'll turn one out of Delrin for you. I have the stuff here.
Let me know how it goes.
