    electric hand planer and plywood?

Anyone ever used an electric hand planner (like you'd use on doors) on plywood?

That bargain plywood was a little warped, When I pulled it together, one piece straighted out and is a little taller then the other two (sides of my router cabinet.. While I can sandwich this with the frame to reinforce the router table, I might as well fix it now.

    Thanks

Depending on the planer, and how it's adjusted and how sharp, you'll probably get a lot of shredding and tearing. If you haven't a lot of experience with one, they can get a little happy with how they cut and how much gets taken off. Is the ply in a condition where you could get it to the tablesaw? I would rather set up a straightedge and use a router with a trim bit, or a block sander, or a belt sander, or a real sharp hand plane.

A while back I bought some lower grade Baltic Birch ply. The edges were a bit rough and not straight. I used a router with a spiral bit and straight edge to square them up for use. To me that would be the way to get the best results.

Router is the way to go! You want the "good" side of the sheet facing so that the spiral bit is cutting down through it to minimize tearing and chipping. ie. Hand held router with a down cutting bit, good face should be up. Hope this isn't confusing, I just got out of bed.

I hate to admit it but yep. Loose nut behind the drill bit, I hadn't fully tightened the collar on the bit and it dropped down 1/16", just enough that the screw was going too far.

The wood, was left over from a project and a little bit longer then the other two pieces (cabinet back and sides). I originally was going to keep it like that, have some side pieces go through (planned on having it on casters) and make it a floor sweep (one less duct run), but it was so close in height to my fathers benches, that he wants to place it between them. So I need to trim off that excess (plans, what plans, I make plans and others change them)

I figure once it's done, I be asked to change it back. Wanted, a board stretcher.
