Great! This is going to my new workbench top! I was about to settle
down for 3 layers of MDF (workbench plan for Shop Notes) and I saw this deal
(asking price for $100) and went for it.

that does look like a real good buy! you'll be happy used this instead. i too used a butcher block (i got it from a friend who was redoing his kitchen - it was 1.5" thick x 38" x 40 x 56") on my work table. however, since it was not long enough, i add mdf on both sides to get my length.

now, is the top surface all full of knife marks (does it need to be flattened)?

Given the amount of space I've left in our 2 car garage, I think this is (60") plenty for me!!. And, it is in excellent shape with no knife marks.

May be I should be able to add folding extension (made of MDF or plywood) on one side if length is not enough...

Wondering, if I need to flatten it, can I use 3/16" clear hard material say ex-cel polycarbonate on it (like vaneer)? the issue is I can't glue on it because it is a "clear" material.
