Personally, I think people should be able to buy and sell pretty much as they please. Nobody is forcing anyone to accept a resale offer. That said, if somebody intentionally misrepresents what they are selling, then they should expect to be called out on it, regardless of whether the item was found on this forum or not. And if somebody gets on here professing to need a spare part, and somebody gives him one free, and then he turns around and sells it, that is bush league...

I don't have a problem with someone making a fair profit, but isn't the question here about those people who snap things up at closeout prices, and then resell them here -- to their supposed forum friends -- at prices just slightly lower than normal retail? Under the pretense of giving said forum buddies a great deal? THAT'S the kind of thing I personally have a problem with. (See Loring's post, up the page ... he said it well.)

Doesn't bother me at all. I'm free not to buy, and I'm free to laugh and point at the ridiculous price.

Actually, several times it causes trouble when someone points to a ridiculous price. You get told to STHU, basically.

So the offical policy (from what I have observed here), is Mind your own business.

That said, it bothers the (censored religious location) that people get items via the bargain alerts, then turn around and try to sell them in the member classifieds WHILE THE BARGAIN is still going. My view, take it to the bay, or hold onto it for a while, then back off if you try to sell it for close to a bargain, and it's not. (I looked at a tool, but it cost me too much to get it shipped to my house, I could go buy it at Lowe's for less then the shipped price, and the seller tried arguing with me on that). The popular one lately is the Bies fence, only one sold on Craigslist, while two locally haven't.
