Somebodys gonna be sleeping on the couch for a while

AUGUST 14--Meet Charlotte Moore. The Nevada sheriff's deputy was pulled over for drunk driving Saturday night--by her own husband, a fellow cop. The 36-year-old Moore, pictured in the below Elko County Sheriff's Office ID photo, was stopped by Deputy Mike Moore, at about 11:40 PM for some kind of moving violation. However, she allegedly left the scene before a Breathalyzer test could be conducted. Moore, driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, was then pulled over again by her husband, who this time called for backup from the Elko Police Department (officers from which subsequently arrested Moore on a driving under the influence rap). Moore, who was released after about two hours in custody, has been placed on paid administrative leave from her post as a jail deputy.

Obviously we don't know the background. I suppose it is possible that their marraige was already rocky and this was the final straw.

However, if that isn't the case, and the guy was just doing his job and insisting that justice is blind, then my hat is off to him. Hopefully she will have as much character and integrity (once sobered up) to realize that he did the right thing.

She may have a drinking problem and this was his way of confronting her. You can't change in these cases till you hit the bottom and decide on your own to change.

Maybe so, but ruining his wife's career seems like a heavy price to pay (for both of them), so I hope he exhausted other options before turning to this solution (assuming, of course, that it is a solution).

Lessee... she was stopped for a moving violation and suspicion of DWI, then left the scene to avoid a breathalyser, requiring backup to be called. Exactly what did he do to ruin her career?

Oh, c'mon... Obviously it is her lack of control that is the true problem, but surely he didn't think pulling her over (twice) was gonna help her career. All I said was that, as a husband, I hope he expended all other more discreet alternatives (at home) before taking action that will make her unemployable in her profession. As a cop, he did what his duty called for, but as a husband, he may have failed. I think we can all agree that, regardless of who did or didn't do what, it's a shame.

Obviously, not all the facts are on the table. But there are enough to make some rational guesses as to what was going on.

First, the time was 11:40pm. Ok, there both shift workers, but on can guess that Mr. Cop was wondering what Mrs. Cop was doing driving around at that time of night. Or, more likely, he knew why she was driving around at that time of night and wanted to chat about it.

He knew it was her when he pulled her over. They must have had conversations prior to this as to her drinking, and perhaps other behaviors. This event was not the start of the story. It was the end.

Anyway, I just can't shake the image of the Reno 911 gang being involved. One of them pulls another one over, but can't make it stick. There's a goofy chase, now involving the whole squad. Improper suggestions as to the proper resolution are offered by Mrs. Cop. She gets off scott free, and the other female squad members wonder how she does it.

                          Or something like that...

Her career would be runined sooner or later. Could be this was the last straw. I have a little experience in this as my LOML is a recovering Alcoholic and my youngest son is a recovering addict. You have to give tough love and let them spend a night in Jail and risk loosing every thing. You cannont be a Codepent. It's hard but you have to do what you have to do. LOML was arrested by our BIL for DUI and when he notified me I told him take her to Jail, which he did. She was on her own and had to take the bus home form Jail and attend all the hearings on her own and use her own money to pay all penalties and fines. I then sold her car to pay for the counseling and rehab. Did the same for my Son. You know it worked they are both leading happy healthy, productive lives now. If you care and love them you have to be tough. You can still be supportive but they have to do it.
