    World statistics the fun way

    I always thought of statistics as dry and almost boring. Not with this guy, though.

    The first video, presented last year at the TED conference, is about debunking Third World myths. The argument is that our concept of "us vs. them," or developed countries vs Third World countries, might no longer apply. It's a compelling argument.

    The second video is a followup to the first one and was presented this year. It's a clever presentation on world poverty, including comparisons of where the United States was in comparison to other countries.

    I don't necessarily agree with what I perceive to be the political bent of the talks (the presenter is Swedish and gets his data from the United Nations), but he really does know how to make his presentations come alive.

    Wish my stat professors were as engaging as this guy; I wouldn't have spent so much time sleeping in class.
