What's the farthest you've driven for a deal you saw on CL or other places. Mine is about 130 miles from LA area to San Diego for a jointer.

I drove from Detroit to Chicago for my BT3100. While I was there I bought both remaining saws. It was about a 10 hour round trip including the time spent in Home Depot. I think I got the last two new BT's in the midwest.Comment

I guess for me it would be when I drove ~170 miles (one way) to pick up the "Ryoborghini" BT3x00 mobile base that Otter gave me shortly after I bought my saw.
Sure, it was a long haul; but the Ryoborghini is still doing yeoman duty as my router table, three years later ... and he let me buy him breakfast, so all in all it was worth it.LarryComment

150 miles each way to get the BT3100.
Then another 150 miles each way to get the Ridgid Herc-U-Lift.
132 miles each way to get a used computer off CL.
Gee, I never thought about all the driving I've done just to get a bargain. I must really like driving, or really like bargains. Or both.Comment

In 2000, I drove nearly 1000 miles one way (from the Memphis area to the Minneapolis area) to pick up a used John Deere lawn mower for $200.00. But it was from a friend and the visit was worth it. The mower was in good condition; I had done some work for him here in Japan (His wife is Japanese), so I got the mower for about a third of its real value. I spent nearly $200 in gas and food in traveling. It was still worth it and the mower is going great with my SIL now. It has been well worth the cost.Last edited by leehljp; 08-17-2007, 07:38 PM.Hank Lee
