I guess this is big news. Maybe one day they will be 1/2 mile apart like the drugstores, liquor stores, and shopping malls. I wonder if they sell workbenches with tail vises and dog holes?

The way businesses are selling things that aren't the norm for them, it wouldn't surprise me.
EdDo you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

We've got one that opened here a few months back right next to a new outlet mall. I've not been inside, but have received a few of their ads in the mail.
Here's a funny thing. They recently made the news when they said they were going to stop providing bags for merchandise they sold. They don't want to contribute to filling the landfills with those plastic bags that apparently take forever to decompose. They will sell you a reusable cloth bag with their name on it to carry your purchases home. Now here is a company selling plastic coated termite vomit furniture which has a life expectancy of about 2 years if you take real good care of it. Then it goes into the landfill. And they're pretending to be all environmentally conscious by saving a few pennies in their own costs by not providing plastic shopping bags.Jerry

Ikea is one of those love/hate stores. They do sell a lot of cheap laminated particle board stuff, but they also have a good selection of sturdy well built furniture as well. The prices are pretty decent too.
When the LOML and I moved to LA, we essentially sold every scrap of furniture we owned to minimize moving costs and refurnished our tiny little house with Ikea stuff as a temporary solution. We have since replaced all of the major stuff (couch, bed, dresser) but we still have a few shelves and such that are holding up nicely. I'll eventually replace the shelves now that I have an actual shop to work in and the Ikea stuff will go in the eventual garage sale.
