I mean what is the point? Did he hear old wood is worth $ thus this old piece of wood must be worth $25?

      Don't worry about identifying what it is . . . . . noooooo. . . .. just list it. Old = $25.

Sad part is somebody will buy it.

Actually now that I think about it I have lots of 'vintage' wood stacked behind my shed. I should charge extra - it comes with the nails already started in it.

I think I am going to email him and ask him if I can come look at it. Maybe put a moisture meter to it to check the moisture. Straight edge to make sure its not too cupped or anything. Metal detector for hidden nails. What else am I missing?

Measure it, weigh it, look at it with a magnifying glass, knock on it from end to end, bang away on your calculator for a few minutes, and then tell him you'll haul it to the dump for him for $5.

                  Jeff,

Tell him you need to make a few test cuts to authenticate it's age by measuring the amount of sawdust produced. You wouldn't by a car without test driving it, right? You should never buy vintage wood without cutting it.

A vintage board, and he callously throws it on the ground like a cheap 2x4. Oh, the humanity ...

If you look closely near the top, you can see the face of the Virgin Mary (or JC, or Elvis)! Now that's worth some money.
