Anywhere from ridiculous to impossible. You've either gotta have 3-phase on the pole (look for 3 transformers on the same pole) or you gotta put in a VFD and synthesize your own 3-phase. Either way, HUGELY expensive.

Probably about a grand, depending on where you live.

But you can get converters that will take 220v and generate three-phase for as little as $100. I imagine, though, that when you start hitting 5hp motors those three-phase converters would start getting more expensive. I believe I've seen 'em used for around $200. Loring can probably elaborate.
