    Stock photos

Anyone know a good (legit) site that has good prices on stock photos. It's for a website so I don't want to just take stuff off the web.

This site has zillions of copyright-free photos on various U.S. government servers. Free, legit to use for almost all purposes, though some need a photo credit:

Copyright-Free Photo Archive: Public Domain Photos and Images

Here's a university site that not only has links to public domain images, it has some good info on copyrights and use:

    Images in the Public Domain

    Here's a British site:

Free Images - Free Stock Photos

The ones here are free for non-commercial use:

Here is one that's legit, free for non-commercial use and some commerical uses, and probably provisions for many other commercial uses:

I have a couple friends that sell photos, though mostly destination oriented. Is there a particular theme you're interested in?

Back in my marketing days, we bought a couple of themed stock photo collections from Corel (I think) so you might check that out as well...

As I do high end marketing for a living the best I found is www.istockphoto.com. The collection is huge and the most expensive high res photo is only $15 royalty free if you can believe it e.g. any use that you want (billboard, magazine, web, etc). This site is a gift for making yours or anyone elses marketing jump!!! It also makes for a very cool x-mas card that you can make at home on the cheap with any digital camera software.

As an FYI you only need 72 dpi for good quality images on the web so you will need to downsample them otherwise the page load time is noticeable.

Great tip movnup -- I love their search interface too. They even have icon sets.

Here is the list of 6 top micro stock agencies:

            http://www.shutterstock.com/
            http://www.istockphoto.com/
            http://www.dreamstime.com/

            http://www.bigstockphoto.com/
            http://www.stockxpert.com

All of them sell images pretty cheap. I personally work with all of them, so any of them is good.
