    Experineces with RAS Recall Program...

Just a fast question...has anyone done the online filing for the RAS recall program lately? If so, how long does it take to process the claim?

Just curious as I filed mine about 10-days ago. Not in a real hurry but would like to get the replacement parts and get them installed before my next project...don't wanna stop in the middle. It would be my luck that after 25-years with these saws I would lop off a body part with the new "safer" guards sitting in their boxs next to the saws.

Just asking to avoid calling as anymore I am loathe to even answer the phone let alone use one!

    Thanks...

If you be talking about Craftsman recall, brace yourself, close your eyes maybe, put on heavy-duty gloves and pick up the phone. You can take a shower afterwards. My online recall filing was utterly ignored. They said they'd confirm via email, yet said email never came. After 2 weeks, I called, and a nice sounding lady said their online recall form was 'faulty'. In about 5 minutes, she took down all my info, and said my recall parts will be in the mail shortly. I also asked for a manual copy, and she said no problem.
I got the package within a week.

Make that two votes for the phone call.

I bought mine from a CL ad, when I got it home, I started researching for an owners manual. That is when I found out about the recall. I got on the phone on Monday morning and had the replacement parts delivered by the end of that very same week.

Nearly the same experience. I filled out the form online, waited two weeks, then called. Parts arrived about 1 week after I called. I suggest calling, the lady on the other end was very nice about it and took care of it. Recall kit is pretty easy to install, worth it if only for the new table. I was actually surprised by the number of parts/assemblies that were delivered. Took about an hour to install and align.

ohhhhh, well, just, DARN...I mean...really just DARN IT!!

I guess I'll have to suck it up and dial a phone number. Time to get out the "calling suit"...two pairs asbestos welding gloves, ruby laser face shield, storm trooper body armor and several therapy sessions to help me recover.

Seriously thanks a lot for the comments. I'll give them a call later this morning....if I haaave toooo...d'oh!!

brecklundin, I think you will find it alot less painfull than you are anticipating. I would guess you will be off the phone after talking to an actual human being in less than 10 minutes.

Wow, well I filled out my form online and in about 10-14 days I got the kit! It was a heavry sucker, because they give you an entirely new table of 1" MDF!! I have no complaints. I haven't had time to finish the install, but once I get back to the shop I will... Eventually. Some day. Maybe.

thanks...my comments were called SCARCASM...sorry that bounced off your dish... I was simply expressing the common loathing of making a phone call to ANY support line.

                  But since you asked....

Beyond the above, my point is I do not LIKE talking to people on the phone. Never have and never will. I have wasted millions of heartbeats on tech support calls over these past 2.5 decades and over the past 10-years even the upper tier support has degraded to the point of being pointless.

I am not in the mood...EVER...to deal with anyone, potentially, in some Guadula-who-the-ell-cares ditchwater place where these jobs have off-shored to...at which time one then gets the joy of spending even more heartbeats trying to explain the same issue several different ways until the other person comprehends the issue.

That being said...this is certainly a different issue as it is a recall not a support call...understandably it should go by the numbers. Except in this day and age I find it unacceptable when a company cannot make their far more efficient online form work. It takes me under a minute to complete and submit a form...and this is an issue that simply does not require a conversation with another person...

Those are the reasons I do not like to call on these things...trust me it is from decades of dealing with such things. This has led to my destain for all things over the telephone...it's a complete waste of a person's heartbeats when a simple web form will suffice, and in this case exists...additionally since they are aware of the problem and have done nothing to address the issue might help explain why the company now basically offers nothing by shop vac's under their brand.

That being said, obviously a simple call and it's done...anyone can see this... thanks for pointing it out.

well, to follow up...they do not even answer the number now. I get the chance to leave a voice mail...oh, joy...now I have to wait around for their return call...how nice...And I NEVER ANSWER my phone...

hehehehe...see I think phones KNOW I hate them!

Prolly the one person left on the program is at lunch...and I pick then to call...stoopid phones!!

                    Followup to my followup:

Catherine at the recall number is a BLAST...she was such a fun helpful lady...I still hate phones, but she really was a dream to work with. Got the mess from trying to submit online fixed and everything should be here in less then 2-weeks. Can't ax for better then that!

BTW, she did tell me that the original order submission from the web form had indeed been processed and might even be on the way already. It is not the web form that has the problem but rather the fulfillment center. Seems they do not take the time to update the online info to indicate a tracking number and/or status and the web site's detail page indicates should happen.

Still a mess but easily fixed and soon I can get back to making a mess...yippie!!

I did the phone thing to sears. Got the nice lady on the first try. Gave her the info and it arrived in about 10 days. The box is heavy and comes with the serial number of the saw on the box. Its almost like they are stocked in a warehouse be ser #. I did this about a year ago.
