    From My Door

A few shots I got last weekend from my back porch and front sidewalk.

    Momma is always close by.

Yeah, they sure are pretty, aren't they? We don't see too many deer in our neighborhood now. We used to live about 125 miles south of where we are now, and there were so many deer, they were dangerous to people driving.

Those are really cool. There are deer in South Florida in the Keys specifically at "Deer Key" that are dwarf deer, about the size of a large dog, or a small Great Dane. They roam free and are fairly abundant.

Yeah, tell me about it! We have more deer up here than anyone should have to put up with; not only do they eat all the flowers (well most all) but they are more than a danger to drivers. Case in point: Just got my 05 SUV out of the shop Thursday after a deer/car collision that did..now wait for it...$4156.66 in damage. Front left headlite, front fender, driver side door, rear driver side door and bumper cover. Never even saw the bugger till it hit the me. Dark of nite, going 50 mph. Glad I wasn't going 65 or something. Soo, yeah they are prettty but!

This thread title reminds me of a CCR song.

I sit on the back porch and wonder the same thing every time I see them!

Yes it was. That's why this thread reminds me of that song.

well, who has encrouched on who's environment? I'm not an animal rights activist and enjoy a nice venison steak as much as any man, but when you driving through the country at night, you kinda have to expect the unexpected. We didn't exactly consult them when laying out the roads and deciding the speed limits.

They can be destuctive to flowers/shrubs. You have two options, work with them or work against them. I work with them. I put out feed for them that they eat instead of munching on my Rhodadendrons (sp?). It's worth the money to let my bushes grow to the size where they can handle alittle browsing. And LOML love watching them out the front window. At one point last winter we counted 16 in our yard or in the field across the street waiting.
