Been shooting all my life. I reload and get to the range when ever I can.

This is one of my favorites. It's a Dan Wesson Model 15, 357. It has interchangeable barrels from 2" to 15". Packs a wallop, and pretty darn loud. I bought a bright blue #15 and put on black Pachmayr grips. Camera batteries are charging, I'll post a pic.

I just step out the door and walk about 25 feet to my combination 50 yd. pistol and 300 yd. rifle range! With small sillouettes for pistols and a couple old engine blocks for sound effects for the rifles Turn left from there to shoot trap.

I've been shooting my whole life - sometimes frequently, sometimes infrequently. Before I got married 5 years ago, I would go to the range at least once a week. Getting married, moving, changing jobs, and remodelling a house nearly choked out my range time, but last month I joined a sportman's club with several ranges 2 miles from home (nice ranges, unlimited use, dues $20/yr.) I mainly shoot my customized Ruger Mk II (.22) - cheap ammo - probably the most fun that you can have for the least amount of money (with your clothes on).
If you are looking to start shooting and want to try it out, take a safety class first thing. If there is a range in your area that has rentals, rent a few guns to get a feel for what you like before you buy - if you end up buying something you don't like to shoot, you won't shoot.

Oh I go to "my" gun range pretty often. Its a 125 acre field with forest on three sides. About the only thing I can't do, except during deer season, is have a moving target system!RuffSawn

I don't make it to the range as much as I used to. Over the years the one I used to go to went from a walk in, sit down and shoot (outdoor range) to slowly implimenting every thing the "range police" could think of to make things "safer". It became more of a hassle to go shooting then an enjoyment. Now when I get to go it's at a friends 10 acre parcel or occasionally at the range at Izaak Walton League in Damascus, MD (very seldom). I used to load and cast my own bullets - everything from handguns (9mm - 44 magnum) to rifle (.223 to 45-70).
Re: radhak -- I'd get an good .177 caliber pellet gun just to learn the eye hand coordination, sight, motions, etc... You can practice that at home. As already stated the Ruger Mark II 22 caliber handgun is a nice pistol. 22 ammo is cheap.
I used to make squib (sp?) loads for my 38/357. Basically this is a pistol cartridge, MINUS THE GUN POWDER and a fresh firing primer. You use wax in the end for a projectile. You take parafin wax (like used in home canning), m,elt in a tin can (I used a clean sardine can) and put on an inverted electric iron. I'd melt the wax until it was about a 1/4 inch deep and then let the wax get semi hard and then press the mouths of the cartridges in. This way you have a low powered round that you can use to target shoot in doors. Be careful though, it could still hurt you or someone else.Rusty
If I had more room, I'd buy more tools!Comment

My first handgun was a plastic toy as a toddler running around in underwear and cowboy boots. But, from about 7 or 8 years old, my father got me hooked on both rifles and handguns. He spent a lot of time teaching me to shoot, and we chewed up a lot of targets.
I didn't get to see the look on his face when he opened up the box containing this trophy, that I sent home from Army basic training. It was for the highest score in our company of 287 men.
Thanks Dad.
