    Not intending to hijack this thread . . . LOML insists on opening an umbrella to go to a door/covered porch or archway less than 10 feet away! And the same back to the car. She gets wetter opening or closing the umbrella than if she just hurried without it.

          In the FL, wet is wet. It takes about 10 seconds in one of our storms, even if you're standing on your head...
