    His day in the sun

Really nervous car phone sales guy, obviously lacking in confidence, stands in front of Simon Cowell and the other wolves in the British version of American Idol (Britain's Got Talent), not to mention an auditorium full of people, and has his day in the sun.

    Watch.

I must say that after hearing that guy sing I would listen to Opera. That was truly AWESOME.

He's definitely got the pipes... Needs to get that grille fixed, though.

Fantastic. I enjoy seeing folks who lack confidence in themselves excelling in what they do.

He, without any doubt, really put it to them. I was waiting for some smirk remark.

Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that! -Rocky Balboa-

I'm not much for "reality" TV but this guy was impressive on several counts. First, great voice. Second, very humble. Third, very quiet confidence. Someone who was really nervous would have cracked a few notes. He didn't.

The fellow talking after we went backstage was from Yorkshire. Very distinctive accent.
