That makes sense, and I did not mean to imply anything! We live in the suburbs, it is amazing how many people just let their dogs out (unobserved) in their unfenced yards to do their business, who then promptly charge our dogs when my wife happens to come by on a dog walk. And our Alaskan Malamute ***** insist on showing any dog that gets in her face who the boss is. My wife has to arrange her walks to avoid quite a few properties...

We are fortunate to have good neighbors now. But, when we lived in California in the 70s, we had neighbors like many of you described. When I retire, I want to downsize from our 2 story to a ranch style home ... BUT, on a HUGE lot or acreage so I know I will not have to deal with neighbors, especially with the large outdoor shop that might have a table saw running into the evening.
Non of that townhouse / condo / retirement community life for me!
