I'm afraid my back problems are back

I have been experiencing some numbness(comes and goes) in my left hip and leg for alomost a week. I went to the doctor yesterday morning and he has ordered an MRI for tomorrow afternoon. I went thru a lower laminectomy of L4 and L5 for bulging discs 5 years ago. What worries me is it started out just like this. I am not sure I am ready for another 6 weeks of being on the mend.

    I will keep you posted......

Update, I had my MRI today and took the films back to the Chiropractor to have him take a look. The films show a herniated disc and scar tissue between L4/L5. I will get the final verdict on Friday morning after the Radiologist reads them tomorrow. Unfortunately it looks like more surgery in my future.

I feel for ya, brother. Two years ago I had an L4-L5 fusion for sphondolysthesis. Had the same same symptoms, among others--numbness in one or both legs, extreme pain in the back, etc.

The recovery was a pain in the er....back, but the results are great! Plus the doc gave me some GREAT pain meds

Same here, Grant. It comes every few months, then goes away for awhile. This time is 'a nice one'. At times the left leg is like it's not there. I haven't gone the surgery route, too many folks I know have and it seems to always come back anyway.

I've been extremely fortunate, with no major problems other than a stroke, from which I fully recovered in a short time. I certainly wish everyone here well for the future, both near and far.
