Stuggling with Sketchup?

Some recent threads on Sketchup made me realize that a lot of you are starting to use it.

Gary Katz has pretty good tutorial where he draws a bookcase step by step. He does a decent job of explaining "groups" & "components", and shows how easy it is to use the "push/pull" tool.

He does a few things differently than I do, but I guess that shows how versatile the program is for different users.

One new thing I learned is how to use the "follow me" tool...would have been very handy on a recent project. It makes drawing molding & trim very slick.

Check it out when you have a half hour to kill.

Absolutely mindblowing! How can they give this software away?

I finally worked out why I'm having such a problem with Sketchup. I'm color blind (which I knew), and when lines/corners etc change color I'm not aware of it Just have to plug along I guess

Wow!

This is amazingly good. Best is it is by a woodworker for all of us, so very specific to what I needed to know. (Tho' he calls us 'carpenters' )

There's stuff here that I would not have ever known, like that 'follow me' tool...

But boy does it suck up your time...

His Windows version doesn't match the Mac version very well. His first actions, setting up for a top-down floorplan view, involve clicking on one of a number of house view icons, none of which are visible on the Mac. What gives?

You should be able to add it:

Select View Menu,

Select Toolbars

click on "views"

You should now have the houses.
