    Uploading Problems with Safari

    I've been trying to upload some jpgs as attachments and not happening.

    Never had the problem until a few weeks ago.

    This is the error message I keep getting

    Safari can’t open the page.
    Safari can’t open the page “http://www.bt3central.com/newattachm...tach&p=”. The error was: “POSIX error: Invalid argument” (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:22) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

    Anyone have any suggestions. I also tried Explorer, also no go.

    Well, I just tried IE again, and lo and behold, Explorer works.

          I'm using a G4 iMac and also using Safari. I use Photobucket for hosting my shots for this board, and for my Camaro boards. My two cents.

              The thread linked below describes the same problem, and one gentlemen wrote this:

              I've had the same problem, and with the help of this forum have resolved it. Here's the simple summary, condensed from Hogster's description of his troubleshooting in response to other posters' suggestions.

              In your home,
              Go to Library/Caches.

              Probably you will discover that the Safari folder in there has a little padlock on the icon, indicating it is locked. This may have been done by Safari Enhancer or something else, to prevent caching and speed things up. But it interferes with certain uploading processes (my troubles were always with uploading photos to photo websites).

              Select the Safari folder (inside ~/Library/Caches), and hit Apple-I (for GetInfo). Uncheck the "Locked" checkbox.

              Problem should be solved! I did not find it necessary to logout and back in. Simply unchecking that one box was a complete fix for a problem that had been nagging me for months! Thanks, hogster and everyone!

                  Many thanks for the help in troubleshooting Safari. I'm currently running 10.4.9 and the info you linked me to deals with an earlier version. I tried to follow your directions, but I suppose that with the upgrade in systen software, the files I had to find no longer are needed and no longer exits.

                  But I did figure it out. I had downloaded some freeware to enhance Safari, well it enhanced it into being unable to upload jpgs to BT3central. I guess that's why they call if FREEware (ain't worth a cent).

                  Did the usual search and destroy (showing hidden folders) and killed off every little bit of code. I now works the way it used to.

                  Now, if I could get Safari to allow me to stay logged on to the forum or at the least, remember my name, I'd be in cyber heaven.

                      Hey, Bruce! I've started having that inability to remember my name at this forum as well. How do you have your cookie controls set up in the Safari prefs? I've had mine at "accept cookies only from sites I navigate to", but am now trying "accept all cookies". Wonder if this'll make a difference.

                          I'm lucky I can still remember my own name, seriously, I always had "accept all cookies" enabled, so that's not the problem.

                          The problem seemed to start after Sam did some tinkering with the site. Now, don't get me wrong, I doubt it's his fault, I just think that the site doesn't play well with Safari. Or maybe any Mac based browser.

                          If I get any more info about this, I'll keep you informed.

                              psst. Use Firefox. It works on Macs too. Safari is nothing more than an appleized version of the Unix X11 KDE desktop web browser Konqueror and even though I run Linux with KDE I still refuse to use Konqueror because Firefox is far and away superior.

                                  I also use Firefox. I found on some applications, Firefox won't allow to open, whereas IE does. I'll get a garbled text readout of code with Firefox.

                                      Bruce is right; "allow all cookies" makes no difference. Guess I'll try some other browser, Firefox or Opera.
