Jeff, I can configure the cooking chambers in my units for grilling if necessary. Also, the fire boxes can accommodate a grill above the coals for small jobs, gralic bread, steaks and the like.
I very infrequently grill. Almost everything I do is either indirect or smoke as I use very few spices or herbs. To me the flavor is in the wood and I want to get that flavor into the meat. I guess it's the cro-magnon gene in my system. I crave red meat, lots of it and smokey. I strive for as large a smoke ring as possible. And, I consider the proper fire box prep to be an integrel part of the cooking process. Every bit as important as the careful selection of the roast at the butcher shop and preparation of the meat.
Ken: Would you be sharing the chili recipe? (He asks, hat in hand, eyes lowered respectfully, toe scuffing the dirt)Last edited by Warren; 05-01-2007, 01:15 PM.A man without a shillelagh, is a man without an expidient.Comment

Funny about timing. I am buying that same grill tomorrow at Lowes, after doing a lot of looking. I am interested in trying the infrared -- heard lots of good things about what it dows for steaks. Infrared is also used as the heat source for the rotisserie, as well as the side grill.
I am tired of buying $199 grills, and have them crap out after a couple years. But I learned that there are plenty of crap grills that are now sheathed in stainless -- so buyer beware -- you do get what you pay for with grills, like most everything.
We looked at Home Depot, and I think Lowe's has better grills.
Follow-up: Got the grill (now $799! ouch!), but what a great machine. Did a quick test and grilled some dogs -- but pretty hard to screw those up. My wife bought a marinated turkey "roast" -- looked like a pork loin roast, but made from a turkey breast. We used the infrared side grill -- really fantastic. I'm anxious to try it for steaks, but next I gotta throw some burgers on the standard grill for the test of what our grills get used for most of the time. This grill has solid stainless grids -- they are incredibly heavy and the overal fit and finish is excellent. But, for that much dough, it better be. I am hoping this grill is the last I have to buy.LeeComment

BBQ grills
I'm not familar with the type you spoke about, but about three years ago
I bought a new grill for HD. It is a Great Outdoors brand, made out of cast aluminum with a side cooking burner. Both burners are solid brass and have a 25 year warranty on them! It is a propane grill with ceramic coated grill rack
that is very easy to keep clean....we use it about year round here and we like it. eezlockComment
