Boat Gloat - We're back on the H2O!

A few weeks ago I blew the outboard 2 stroke on my boat. I don’t think it was my fault, there were a number of things wrong with it.

Using the power of internet I found one for sale, the only one available on Ebay in the North America just 2 hours drive away. Oh joy...

It took me a few days to swap out the engine on the old outboard and get it all hooked up again. It was my first marine engine tear down and build-up. They are goofy little engines.

Yesterday was her maiden voyage with the new parts. We took the kids out on the lake a while and went ashore in a remote area to color eggs using twigs for stir sticks and lake water for the dye. Didn't pull the boat until dusk and by the time the sun went down, so did the kids, like a light. A good time was had by all. The boat ran great..

Her she is docked at the peer in Saguaro Lake, AZ. I know there have been bigger, better, nicer boat gloats here (Whaler) but this one is mine and I tore it up and put it back together using my own two..

    Boat $400
    Extra Motor $200
Dozen Eggz & Paaz Gear $10

Time with the family on the lake coloring Easter Eggs. Priceless…

Nothing wrong with your tri-hull. I had one a lot like it in SC. Did a lot of shrimping with a cast net off that bow.

Great story, Bill. I've been on Saguaro, and can't imagine a more picturesque spot to color eggs!

Good job on the motor, too.

That's a good way for family fun. Congrats on getting it in the water.

            Great Place to have fun....

            Bill,

There is not a better place to pick for an Easter excursion! I lived in Mesa for a few years, and met the LOML while water skiing on Saguaro Lake. There is nothing wrong with fixing up that boat and having fun! My old clunker was a 21' Chris Craft jet boat with a 460 Ford engine. I think I spent just about as much time fixing her as I did on the water. But the memories are still there!

Sounds like you had a great time. Can't let LOML see this thread. She wants a boat. I am fighting a losing battle to not get one.
