    It's Working.......

Back in Sept of last year when I went for my Simi-annual Physical at the VA, I got on the scales and almost feinted! I weighed in at 265.3 pounds!

Way too heavy for a 5' 8" frame! So beginning on the 1st of October, I went on a diet, called the "Rotation Diet".
So far I've lost 40 plus pounds.

Rotation DIet consists of alternating the Caloric intake to keep your Metabolism from resetting.

Week #1 First three days = 1200 calories per day
Last four days = 1500 calories per day
Week #2 All 7 days = 1800 calories per day
    Week #3 Repeat week #1
    Week #4 Rest, normal diet

My goal is to lose a total of 101.3 pounds (Hope I don't look like a Scare Crow!)

I'm also walking 4 1/2 miles every day and am going to increase that to 9 miles per day to see if I can peal the weight off faster.

    Wish me Luck!

        George,

Congratulations. Forty pounds in six months is quite an accomplishment. The walking will really help.

Buy a really cheap hand plane and flatten all the surfaces on sandpaper. That burns up thousands of calories.

Excellent progress so far, George! Keep up the good work.

I stand about 5'8' and I can guarantee you won't look or feel like a scarecrow when you reach your goal. You'll feel great.

            Good luck,

              George,

I'm finding all the weight you're losing!! 5'9" and 240, myself. How can I gain weight when I don't eat?

                  (1) Eat a handful of M&M's.
                  (2) Turn around.
                  (3) Eat entire pizza.
                  (4) Turn around again.

                  ...and so on...

                  Never worked for me.

40 pounds is an excellent start. Congratulations. Hope you make your goal. I'm 5' 8" too, and if you make your goal, you'll be slightly lighter than me. I wouldn't mind losing 6 or 8 pounds........off my gut.

Gmack, wow. That is amazing! Keep it up! A few years ago I lost 50lbs in 7mos so I know how hard it can be. Since my first daughter was born I've put back on more than I like so I started exercising seriously again last week. My goal is to lose 15lbs by our trip in July. That is about 1.5lbs per week which is easily doable. I have an advantage though - I am married to a physical therapist.

A suggestion for helping to keep the weight off in future to do your walking 3 days a week and weight train the other 3. Muscle mass is metabolically active, fat is not. So you can add some muscle and be able to eat a bit more and not gain the weight back. Plus adding the muscle will get the weight off faster.
