Interesting conversation

During the Sox/Indians game today (which I'd like to forget), one of the broadcasters was talking to a young woman, who happened to be an astronaut. She was talking about her experiences in space. She said she would see the sunset, then 45 minutes later she would see the sunrise! This continued throughout her journey in space. I found that very interesting.

There are strange and facinating experiences that some people have that most people never think of.

I lived in a suburb of Osaka for 13 years. This suburb was one mountain range over from Osaka to the east. The mountain shoots up approximately 1600 feet, is about 4 miles through at the base and about 20 miles long. In 1997, a tunnel was constructed through it.

I never will forget the experience of leaving the house one morning just before sun up, entering the tunnel just a couple of minutes after the sun peaked over the horizon from the east. I went through the tunnel (6 kilometers) and exited on the west side to darkness and street lights. About 5 to 6 kilometers later, I saw the sun peak over the horizon again. That was weird. Two sunrises in about 10 minutes time. But I know that people in mountainous areas probably experience this often.
