    sliding bed extender, magazine

Years ago, I saw something in Fine Homebuilding refering to a previous article. Someone had taken pipe, or tubing, and built a bed extender. It held small material down below, and was even with the top of the wheelwells for sheet goods. Lately I've been needing something like that (7' bed with toolbox), and wondering if anyone has something similar, knows the issue. or more idea's?

I am building one this weekend out of pvc (trial) and if that works, I might just keep it.

Would you be able to make use of this? Not sure how far it extends up, but it may not be necessary

I've seen that, but no class III reciever (no trailer either).

The one I saw, looked like tubes, and against the tailgate, was for lack of a better description, a hospital bed rail (the kind they raise to keep someone in). It would slide out, and be held in place by hitch pins. 2x material stacked below, and plywood/sheetrock etc, stacked flat above, and abuting the bed rail.

No class III receiver?? You have to get one of those! You never know when you might need one This hitch doesn't require a trailer if that was what you were thinking. I haven't tried it myself but I intend to. Of course now I have to go try to find your hospital bed rail deal.
