    Chantilly Wood Show

The Wood Show at Chantilly Va was this weekend. Finally got some down time and went today. Seems like the number of vendors and displays (quality & space) are down again this year. Maybe it just seems smaller after the first time. Pretty much all the major hand tool brands were there except Bosch. Only Mini Max had a Euro saw and couple of bandsaws - no Lagunas this year. Also didn't see Wilke there this year. They didn't have the Jointech Saw Train on the BT3100 this year either (while I would never invest that kind of money it was worth the price of admission just to admire and dream about it). So all in all a pretty dull show from my perspective. Did pick up some extension poles for setting up a dust barrior (4 9 1/2 ft for $70). The one tool I really wanted to search out was a dust collector. The only near deal was a shop fox 1 1/2 hp for $199. Price seemed good for that size, but I figured I'd have to pop for new bags/cannister to actually get collection so I let it slide. I'll have to keep looking for a good deal on the Delta I want. Just thought I'd pass along what I thought of the show.

I went on Saturday. I had 2 things I wanted, a Triton 3 1/4 HP router and the
Rigid OSS. Rigid was sold out but Somerfield was selling the Triton for a few
bucks cheaper than Woodcraft, so I have the new router--still in the box.

Also ordered 2 new Timberwolf blades for my Grizzly bandsaw. Picked up some
cheap router bits and dust collection fittings, too.

My first WWing Show was in CA 5 years ago. I was blown away by that one
and bought my first router there. This was my second show. I guess I own a
lot more stuff now so I wasn't really blown away by this one. I kinda' wish the
demos were in separate rooms or something because it's always really hard to
    hear in there.

Have you heard of the one in Baltimore? Just wondering if it draws more dealers.

I almost went to that one instead, but Chantilly is closer to me. I don't know
if more dealers were there. I think in the future, I'm going to save my gas and
the cost of admission unless I REALLY need something.
