    new home page link

    Ladies and Gents,
I've added a link in the signature line for my "home page". This will take to a page where I can bore you to tears with my "other hobby"! Lot's of pictures and my attempt at Blogging. If you Have nothing esle to do or are bored at work, stop by and have a look.

A new project will be starting soon (my first scale bird) and it will be detailed there.

Just so you don't think I've been ignoring my Bt3, I've been modifing my field box to accept larger wheels and have been making some neat wood axle blocks. Believe it or not, there has been a good bit of work in this!

Very cool -- I dig the helicopters. They use ones just like that (but mounted with cameras and a releasable payload of sensors) during disasters. For example, there was a big chemical fire out here last year sometime and they flew the helicopters up to test the air and how far/fast the toxic cloud was moving. I thought it was a very cool application of what looks like an awefully fun technology!

Yeah, the camera rigs are really cool and can take some great video/stills. They used them here on the gulf coast after Katrina to do damage assessments. The cameras are getting small enough that even helos the size of mine can take some really good video.

One guy in Germany built a Huey gunship and mounted a micro camera in one of the rocket pods. The video he shot with that was AWESOME. He flew it down through a field of some type and I swear it looked like he was zooming over a rice paddy. He also dubbed CCR's RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE to the video. One of my friends said it looked EXACTLY like the view a door gunner got during the Viet Nam war.

One of these days I'll get a chance to play with cool toys like that helicopter... Of course, I'll probably also have to pick up a MacGuyver action figure on Ebay to strap into the cockpit...
