I'm planning in the future to set up my garage to more of a shop. My garage floor unfortunately has tons of dips and holes. What's the best way, short of jack hammering the entire floor, of patching/fixing these dips to make the smooth floor? I don't have any cars in there right now (and hopefully never wil), but just in case I do, will the patching compound stand up to the weight? Do I need to do any prep work (cleaning the current floor with some sort of soln, pressure washing, etc)?
Patching concrete for smooth floor???

Look for a self-leveling compound called Ultraplan, made by a company called Mapei. After primer and product it will cost about 1.50/sqft depending on the thickness you pour. This is pricey but it will be the last floor you pour. The product is rated for vehicle traffic and can be colored or stained exactly like concrete. I used this on my kitchen counters.David

The self-levelers at the Borg can't but this one can. It is a commercial product rated for wharehouses, forklifts, etc so it should stand up to the occasional car being parked on it. I also found the company to be extremely helpful in answering all of my questions.David

Here you go. Ultraplan and Ultratop. Click that link then click 'self leveling toppings' for the MSDS and installation instructions. Lowes is a dealer for Mapei and may be able to order it. I got mine from a commercial place that stocked it.David
