    Tree Expert.....

It is hard to find a joke today without a dirty word or two in it, but, here is one:

Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods. A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch, "Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?" The birch says he cannot tell. Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says, "Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech or a son of a birch?" The
woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree. He replies, "It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever put my pecker in."

That there is a good one. It's a keeper.
Caught this woodpecker in our back yard. It was one of the first pictures LOML took when she first got a digital camera.

We see those every day. We feed the birds and squirrels, and we put out suet for the woodpeckers and a few other species.

        Recipe

Ed, Do you have a suet recipe that would be cheaper than a store bought block?

Ditto that, Ed. Half the time the local birds won't eat the commercial stuff. I have no clue why not but it just hangs like it has cat saliva all over it!

a few local places are 99cents for suet right now...

I buy a whole box and throw them in the beverage refrigerator.
