    Kirby Dust Sighting

Upon looking to build a featherboard for my fence, I came across this RARE photo...

Never before has dust been captured on film in the Kirby workshop. We now have evidence that it does indeed exist.

For a full color 8x10 framed photo of this event, send $29.95 to:

    Sgt. Majors
    Bldg 18
Air Force Flight Test Center, Detachment 3 (Area 51)
Nevada, (no zip - we know you already sent it)

That has to be photoshopped in. Surely dust cannot physically exist in the Kirby shop long enough to be captured by a photograph....

That's exactly what I was going to say. I think someone is trying to scam us for $29.95.

Yup. Photoshop. I still don't believe Rod actually builds anything in his shop. NOBODY can work in a shop and keep it that clean.

          No longer possible

That picture was taken before Rod started using a dust filter on his "See no dust" camera and well before he got the dust removal add-in software for Photo-Shop. He also treats everything in his shop with end-dust.

When I saw the title I questioned if it was really from Rod's shop. Then I noticed all the MDF, so it must be from his place.

As Rod himself will tell you, Rod does not have a shop. Rod has a shed. I've never quite understood why he's such a stickler on this point, or exactly what the difference is, but I think it may have something to do with where all the dust goes. Someone needs to form a committee to investigate this, thoroughly.

This photo is clearly suspect because the workpiece is Baltic Birch plywood, not MDF.

Not the piece he's cutting, the piece to the left of the picture.

Actually Rod has been under investigation for some time. I think the techinical term used by my superiors was "Double Secret Probation".

I can at this time provide an excerpt from a wire tapping that was done on the Kirby household.

Kirby - "Hi, I understand you have some information regarding the request I had made last week?"

Unidentified Male - "Yes, Mr. Kirby, Although we here at Melbourne Wind Tunnels would love to help you meet your needs, we simply can not guarantee anything over 360000 CFM on any of our units. At that rate, I'm afraid there remains a possibility that some dust could remain in your shed."

Kirby - "I made a unit out of MDF and a used blower motor that can do that. I guess I'll have to keep looking. Thanks for your time."

                    1. That is an "old" pic - before I built a new router table and replaced the Makita router with a Triton.
                    2. In Oz, the term "Shop" (short for Workshop?), is never used - it's always a "Shed".
                    3. My dust control methods shall remain shrouded in mystery!
                    (Please note pic #4 )
                    4. Some updated pics...

I don't know that I would go that far Paul. If there weren't piles of sawdust around my shop, I wouldn't feel that I had accomplished anything. besides, it helps keep it MY space and not invaded by LOML.

It's just fun to add to the Mystique that is Rod's shed.

If you check out the address to get the photo from, you'll see that it's in Rosswell, NV (aka Area 51).

So we'll just leave this to your imagination, and just where does the elusive Mr. Kirby really come from.

                              Rod,

Did you say you use a hand vac on your shed? Can you share what type of hand vac that is so that I can pick up one for me self.

                              Thanks!
                              Chris
