Yes , Yes it was and Mark Martin got screwed by NASCAR> The yellow should have been waved as the wreck was occurring like it has in the past. If it did Mark would be celebrating right now.

That was some race indeed. One driver that I was watching was Juan Pablo Montoya but he only finished 19th. It was amazing that he finished unscathed after all of those wrecked.

Just like what the announcers said, this race week started with controversy and ends with controversy. It would have been nice to see Mark Martin win but congrats to Kevin Harvic.

Boy Toyota has their work cut out for them. I was really surprised that the first Toyota car finished 23rd place specially after yesterdays finish.

I was pulling for Martin to win one, so it's hard to know if I'm biased about the call. There would have been arguments either way.

        It was an entertaining race!

The most spectacular finish was sliding upside-down, spinning and on-fire across the finish line.

I was rooting for Mark Martin and he got screwed when they didn't throw the yellow.

They should have thrown the yellow but who saw Harvick coming until it was to late. I was more afraid of Kyle Bush taking him out, but he took every body else out. He wasn't popular withe drivers before more so now. Toyota has a big job ahead but so did Dodge when they came back.

The the way they were all trying to win, you just knew there would be a crash to end it. I was pulling for Mark too, but it was one heck of a finish.

Yep, great finish. An all around good race too. Not many cautions until the end.

The announcers made the point that the wreck was happening behind Martin and Harvick. Well, weren't there other guys racing for positions and points back there too? Didn't the wreck pose a threat to them? Should they have been expected to avoid the wrecked (wrecking) cars and race at the same time?

For the sake of consistency, I think the caution should work the same whether it's the first lap or the last lap. The reason they went to the new system was for safety. Saftey be ****ed on the last lap??

Would everyone say they should have threw the caution if Harvick was in the lead and Mark edged him out at the end? I doubt it.

I've never routed for or against Mark Martin for the last 15 years but I found myself routing for him and wanting him to win the Daytona 500. He got too close the Kevin and got loose and he lost it. Oh well, the bad boy no one likes won instead.

They should have not thrown the caution, they did the right thing. Isn't the caution flag suppose to fly to 'caution' the drivers there is a wreck? Throwing the caution after turn 4 on the last lap would have done nothing but make more controversy by saying NASCAR is fixed and they threw it for the old man. It would have not made the race safer or kept less cars out of the wreck, the whole pack was grouped together going 180+. The guys in the back aren't racing because the yellow isn't out, heck they can't see anything through the smoke while trying to get slowed down, let alone a yellow light. That whole wreck lasted less then 10 seconds.

This is what makes Daytona so exciting, you never know who's going to win. A little drafting and a good run and you can be propelled from 10th to 1st in a short distance.

Sorry to disagree with everyone but from neutral eyes, I think they did the right thing.

I was about to disagree, but then I remembered reading that they threw the caution after Harvick & Martin crossed the finish line. So the other 25 guys on the lead lap did not have to race to the finish.

Either way, still a good race. Restrictor plate races can be real snoozers sometimes. This one wasn't.

Years ago when they had a yellow near the end (2,5,10, etc. laps before the end), the race ended on a yellow/checkered. People cried bloody murder, "Let them race"!! NASCAR came out with the Green-White-Checkered finish (overtime). This allowed the cars a chance to race to the checkered flag.

The past several years when they have had a wreck on the final lap, even with a Green-White-Checkered ending, they would throw the yellow flag. People cried bloody murder, "Let them race"!!

Now they let them race (not throw the flag, which they did) people are crying bloody murder. Can't have it both ways!!

Yes, I would like to have seen Mark beat out Kevin. Would really like to have seen Jimmy repeat. But just because things didn't happen the way "I" wanted them to don't mean it's wrong.

If you watch the replay, and they threw the yellow flag (earlier) to freeze the field, you will see that either one could have won. They both went back and forth several times in that short distance.
