    A bit of BT3Central background

    Hi all...

I thought that it might be helpful for some to know the "history" and "philosophy" behind BT3Central.com. I rambled out a blog post this morning, which is something I've been wanting to do for a while...

    http://blog.samconder.com/

I make no appologies for inducing drowsieness as a result of reading the blog!

Excellent writeup! For some reason, I had always thought there were more moderators than you mentioned.

Anyway, hats off to you for the selfless service that you give to the community, both real and virtual!

Excellent, Sam. Thanks for the background. And for the hard work on the site. The "three hours" was really a great story. There should be more like that.

          Sam,
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading about the history of your vision. And as far as what your mama says about turning you over her knee, she sounds just like mine. My kids don't let me forget that grandma can still ground me if I step out of line.

Thanks for the blog history writeup. Since I'm still a newbie at not only the BT3 family of saws, but also woodworking (about 11 months), your background info about this site's creation is quite an insight into Internet forums,... your perpective confirms the thoughts I had about this site - it seems quite unique on the web. I believe your site is the "cream of the crop"!

Unfortunately, I think the manufacturers are figuring on a customer base informed and serviced by an excellent forum such as this... so they are not informing and servicing their customers like they should. That's why I'm encouraging other potential table saw buyers to the Craftsman/Ryobi table saw (21829 "BT3Craftsman") because it is serviced so well here. That is one of the main reasons why I bought this saw last "Black Friday".

                Sam,

                Well done!

The blog will bring many of the members up to speed regarding the forum. None of us should forget that it was your efforts alone that started up this conglomeration of scamps, rascals and ne'er do wells. We all owe you and the members who, willingly and skillfully, assist you in providing us a place to meet and exchange ideas, debate the hot issues of the day (ie: belly lint usage), and just in general enjoy ourselves while learning and helping each other.

'Tis a very civil forum you have brought forth and nurtured. I thank you and those that assist you.

Well since I'm a member you forgot scalawags.

And Sam, thanks for a great forum. I came aboard just about the time the Ryobi forum experienced all its problems. At the time I decided to try out this forum - I figured I could always go back. I guess I'm like that annoying relative - I never left.

Well done Sam! I'm sure you could have filled several pages but what you wrote makes me think you made your points.

I'm also glad to see you back posting more. I'm thinking that might slow down once spring arrives and you have more Scouting to do; that's important too! Selfishly I hope you are able to keep a balance, remember you can sleep when you are dead.

As one of the 'Chosin Ones' that Sam invited to come over and look at samconder.com before it was published, I too have watched this great community grow to what it is today.

There is no place on the web like it. This is partly due to Sam and the small group of moderators, but mostly due to the quality of the folks that make up our family and their ability to disagree in a civil manner. Over the years I only know of a couple of incidents that got out of hand to the point that Sam had to step in.
